Polson, Montana – August 20, 2020 – Adelos, Inc., a leading research and product development company specializing in fiber optic sensor systems, has been awarded a AFWERX Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Special Topic Dual-Use contract.
This award follows the successful completion of the Phase I evaluation of Adelos’ Phosonic advanced perimeter security system. Phosonic is an opto-acoustic ground-based sensor that detects, classifies, localizes, and tracks a variety of threat targets of interest to the US Government.
During Phase 1, Adelos engaged with key customers and end users on the adaption of Phosonic for strategic USAF requirements. The Phosonic system exceeded critical achievement standards, showing technical merit and commercial potential during a US Government customer demonstration on February 20, 2020 at the Adelos Test and Demonstration Center in Montana.
Under the SBIR Phase II award, Adelos will extend the Phosonic application for strategic perimeter security in direct support of a highly specialized Air Force customer.
“We are honored to have won a coveted AFWERX SBIR Special Topic Phase II contract,” states Dr. Alex Philp, Founder and President of Adelos. “The competition was extreme for this award and we will be working with AFWERX and the warfighter to drive Phosonic forward. AFWERX has been critical to bringing this innovation forward.”
